If you’re not familiar with F3 terminology, it can be confusing. F3 Nation put together a global Lexicon to help (FNGs) decipher what's said. Here are some of the most common F3 terms you’ll hear throughout our Region.
The youth who join an F3 gathering -- when giving an F3 name, be positive! The second ring of the Concentrica.
Area of Operation. This is a location where we meet to work out. You may hear someone say "I post at the Reservoir AO."
I agree!
After a workout, the workout lead (called a Q) will post a summary of the workout in Slack. Contains announcements and prayer requests. These backblasts are used to record all your hard work and to generate stats for our region.
Just another name for a body weight workout.
The last thing for an F3 workout -- taking a pic by the shovel flag.
A common way of counting in exercises. Q calls out "1, 2, 3, __" and the PAX yell out the rep # instead of "4."
35 lbs of concrete love. A little less for the 2.0s. A little more for the Whoppers.
Every F3 workout ends with a Circle of Trust. It includes getting a count of men present, naming any FNGs, announcements, shout outs/praise, and/or words of wisdom (moleskin).
A group of guys who ride together somewhere, probably for a CSAUP event.
The big guy who a bootcamp but hates a run. Opposite of a Sugar Ray.
Staying around after the Fitness for some Fellowship. This usually involves someone bringing coffee to share after a morning workout, or relocating to a nearby coffee shop. It usually lasts 15-30 minutes and gives guys a chance to catch up. We usually do ours after Saturday or Holiday beatdowns.
The target of leading a HIM's life, moving from center to furthest out ring:
M
2.0s
Shield Lock
Community
Friends/Acquaintances
Mammon
A weighted object used to enhance a workout. Most men grab a cindy, but you can use anything heavy and hold-able that you have laying around the house.
Completely stupid and utterly pointless. Difficult events we do together.
When you workout with an F3 group outside of your home region. There are workouts all over the US and abroad. They all follow the same basic elements so it will seem familiar to you.
Emotional Headlock. The process of talking with a guy and getting them to come to an F3 beatdown.
Every minute on the minute. Push yourself OYO style for a specific time. Rinse & repeat.
The comfort of your bed in the gloom. The adversary to joining the PAX.
Females in Action. The committed group of women doing roughly what we do. Note: No current FIA chapter in Harrisburg.
Friendly New Guy. Someone at their first workout. Everyone at F3 has a nickname, but you don't get it until the end of your first workout. So from when you show up at your first workout, until you get an F3 name, people will refer to you as FNG.
Pre-dawn. Most people are asleep, but not us. We're up, working out, and fellowshipping. "See you in the Gloom" or SYITG is a common tag line people will use.
Hard Commit. Committing to showing up to a workout and serves as accountability. Most often it is done by responding to a pre-blast with the "HC" emoji.
High Impact Man. A PAX who is embracing the F3 pillars and making a positive impact in his neighborhood and community.
A PAX who posts to an F3 workout after a prolonged absence. Welcome home!
A man's partner. The center of his concentrica.
A man's work. The most outer ring of a HIM's Concentrica.
Puke. Some will spill merlot after their first beatdown. That's okay.
The part of the Backblast capturing the CSAUP and other interesting things.
Light jog.
The stage of COT where each PAX announces his hosptial name, age, and F3 name.
Apache for "spokesperson" or "chief." The leader of the Region. Not higher than other PAX -- but a spur for them.
On your own. Counting out reps and doing the said amount, adapting, or cheating yourself.
An F3 participant. The term has military roots. Pretty much anyone with a F3 name.
It's a verb. When you post to an AO, it means your showing up for a workout. Example: "Yeah, I posted at The Reservoir last week."
The person leading the workout. Responsible for creating the workout, making sure no one gets left behind, and making sure the workout ends on time.
Note: No reference to Q-Anon.
The ultimate HIM and high-standing man. Usually paid tribute when doing something big, like starting a new AO or Region.
Paid to PAX who have reached their 50th birthday.
A workout where you carry a weighted backpack or some other weights around with you.
A man who doesn't like who he is in the mirror -- or, even worse, never looks in it.
Soft commit. A halfway point between Fartsack and HC. Not to be used unless you give yourself a valid reason.
A man's brothers whom he can rely upon in any circumstance. Don't be surprised when they become the PAX you share beatdowns with.
Ol' Glory atop a beautiful shovel. The central hub of an F3 beatdown.
The skinny guy who likes a run but hates a bootcamp. Opposite of a Clydesdale.
Triple claps. Better than a thumbs up.
Virgin Q. A PAX's first Q of an F3 beatdown, and something all other AO PAX should seek to attend (and support).
The notecard you use to call your F3 beatdown plays.
